Don't use that sim card that we got in the mail it blew up my phone

[That's it. That's his warning. He didn't have high expectations for their 'compensation' but he hadn't considered it's be actively dangerous.

Despite having just had his phone explode, though, and his hands wrapped up in bandages, he's still going to be working at the teahouse the next day. And the day after, smiling through the unbearable pain. He can't just close the place, but also he can't leave it unsupervised.]

[It's evening when he reviews the sim card that came in the mail, unmarked but on the date that they would have expected their compensation from AVA. Along with new missions, Yuya's sure they're related. But it isn't until now that he looks at it carefully, and bites the bullet to see what AVA has given them.


And that's why he's in the hospital lobby, holding back tears as his hands hang covered in fresh burn marks and blood, being directed to the next open office in order to have his hands tended to. It's just the kind of thing a medical student can help with, for education.]

[ It's just another busy day of work for Nier. He's been at the hospital all day long helping some patients who need assistance in some form. Yuya's a familiar face though. ]

Oh no, Yuya you're hurt.

[ His worry and concern only increases. ]

How bad is it? Can you show me?

[ Nier would like to know the extent of Yuya's injuries before making any hasty moves. It looks really bad just from a glance. Are those burn scars? Ouch. Poor guy]

It--[Yuya sucks in a sharp breath. It's agonizing but he shouldn't, doesn't want to cry and be so upset in front of other people. This isn't poised at all, even if he has no reason to be.

He ducks his head, using his hair to hide his face.] My phone. Exploded.

[He offers his hands, which look probably how you'd expect them too after holding a mini explosion of metal.]

[silentends]

I'm sorry it hurts so much. Can I ask you to stay still for a moment?

[ Nier just puts a cold and wet compress over the wounds hoping to reduce the inflammation. He'll wrap bandages on it later.]

This might take a while.

Okay. [He can't help with twitch as the burns are pressed on, hissing through his teeth, but he does his best to stay still. He's never been in so much pain before. Is it going to scar...?]

You're doing great. I need to ask you another question.

When was the last time you ate?

[ Nier was gonna prescribe some medication for the pain but it would help to know if Yuya's hungry or not. ]

Are you hungry?

[hippocarnival]

Today. [He scrunches his face trying to focus.] For dinner. I'm not hungry.

[silentends]

That's good. I'm going to give you some medication in a moment.

[ Nier grabs a glass of water from the shelves and picks out some painkillers from there as well. He hands them over to Yuya. ]

Try to swallow one.

[hippocarnival]

[Trying to grab a flat of water when his hands are stiff from burns and pain ends up... just about impossible. He only taps the glass, looking between it and the pills resting on the palm of his other hand.

Ultimately he decides he stands a better chance swallowing them dry, and brings his hand to his mouth to toss them in. This isn't painless either, and he cringes when his palm accidentally touches his mouth.]

You did great, Yuya.

[ Ouch. It's really that bad. A look of increasing worry spreads across Nier's face. ]

We're almost done. I just need to bandage up your wounds so you won't get an infection.

Is there someone at home who can look after you?

[ Oh No! This is the second time something like that has happened... ]

Are you okay? I can heal you if you'd like

[Yuya's responses take forever trying to peck the keys with his index finger.]

I'll be okay i went to the hospital

[ Noah took Connor to the hospital when his phone exploded too. ]

But have you fully recovered?
I have magic that can heal your wounds even if they're mending

[ THE NEXT DAY Judai walks through the backdoor in the early morning. He's carrying a takeout bag. ]

Yuya, I brought pancakes!

[ mmm breakfast pancakes ]

[Despite the awful injury last night, Yuya's pushed through it in order to open the teahouse like normal. His hands are bandaged completely and they ache but he's taking painkillers to numb it and if he keeps moving it's like it all blurs together anyway.

He doesn't look up as he's pulling out pots and kettles, slowly.] Um, that's great! I'll get some in a bit.

[ehero]

[ Immediately upon seeing Yuya's hands, breakfast is forgotten. The bag is placed on the counter and Judai rushes towards him. He takes whatever pot or kettle that Yuya's holding, also setting it down, then gently takes hold of the other's wrist. He pulls it up slowly so he can get a better look. ]

What happened?!

[hippocarnival]

[A better look is going to be... bandages. But Yuya flounce when his wrists are grabbed.] Uh, my phone exploded. You didn't get a weird sim card in the mail, did you?

[ehero]

What? No, I didn't get anything like that.

[ He turns the wrist around a few times, examining Yuya's hands and wrists. He frowns deeply. ]

How did your phone explode?

I put the sim card in it. [He didn't even know that was possible.] I thought it was the compensation the app was taking about.

[ehero]

[ At the mention of the app, he scowls. He lets go of Yuya's wrists. He chooses not to say anything about AVA. ]

How bad are they?

[hippocarnival]

It's fine. [Not bad enough for him to take off work obviously.] I'll keep them bandaged while they heal.
